Kolkata, a city that promises rich history and culture, sadly falls short in the most basic aspects of civic life. The streets are perpetually littered with trash, and the stench of garbage hangs heavy in the air. Extreme traffic which seem unnecessary. The humidity is suffocating, making every step feel like a chore. What's equally disappointing is the behaviour of the locals. Rudeness seems to be a default trait, with people often displaying a blatant disregard for courtesy. From vendors to pedestrians, there's a palpable lack of civility that's jarring. While Kolkata has its cultural gems, the overall experience is marred by its filth and the unpleasant demeanor of its people. Unless the city addresses these fundamental issues, it will struggle to attract visitors who crave a more pleasant and respectful environment. *Not recommended* for those who value cleanliness and basic human decency.Guest review byBARISTHAIndia - 2.0

Its so historical and ancient, that it's like living a history book as you walk the streets. The place has character, old world charm, and stories at every street and corner. Be ready to come face to face with almost British era time line. Visiting the charming old world places will consume your entire time. And then the food will blow your mind. From the airport pick-up to my check-out, the front desk, concierge and staff at the pool coffee bar were charming, helpful and friendly. The outstanding breakfast (where I was given delightful personal attention by Sanket) sets a new high standard by which all future hotels will be judged. The location is perfect for getting around Kolkata.
