Montepulciano is a lovely old hilltop town.
Montepulciano is a lovely old hilltop town. It has wonderful views over the countryside (and to other towns) as well as excellent restaurants, shops, and local wine cellars (in caves under the town). The local wine is excellent! It is walkable with very little traffic allowed, but also has quite a hill within it, so be prepared to walk up and down hill if you visit! It also is a good place to stay and to travel to other picturesque towns nearby, such as Piensa (truly lovely) or Montalcino (also famous for its own wine). Being a hilltop town, the train does not stop right in Montepulciano. We stopped at nearby Chiusi-chianciano train station, where we could rent a car just across the street.Guest review byJohn - 10.0

The house was exceptional and in a superb location.
The house was exceptional and in a superb location. It is an ideal spot for exploring other Tuscan towns. The surrounding views are lovely, and the sunrises from the front yard is breathtaking! The host was thoughtful and generous leaving us cake, wine and a platter of local cheese and cold cuts on our arrival. Lovely little town on a hill .
Lovely little town on a hill . Not too busy and quite friendly. The Main Street has sections that are quite steep and it’s pretty confronting to drive in initially. Valentina is always keep to help you around and always with a big smile. Thanks to her, we stayed longer in Tuscany, allowing us to explore more. The hotel is located just inside the historical centre and a few steps from P1, where we left our car. The breakfast provided, in the nearby Palazzo Avignonesi was great too.
