If you’re traveling on a budget and dreaming of the Amalfi Coast, I highly recommend staying in Piano di Sorrento. Hotels in Positano, Amalfi, or Ravello can be crazy expensive, especially during peak season. But Piano di Sorrento offers a much more affordable option without sacrificing charm or convenience. This peaceful town is just a short bus ride away from hotspots like Positano and Sorrento, (bus is limited) making it a great base for exploring the entire Amalfi Coast. You’ll still enjoy local food spots, and authentic Italian vibes—minus the tourist crowds and high prices. For budget-conscious travelers who still want easy access to all the beauty of the Amalfi Coast, Piano di Sorrento is a smart and savvy choice. We loved quiet, quaint aspect of the area. We enjoyed espresso, pastries and gelato at Marazulla and delicious dinner at L'Approdo. The area felt very safe and the locals were friendly. We were able to easily catch a private boat to the Amalfi coast and Capri.Guest review byMillicent - 10.0
My husband and I liked everything.
My husband and I liked everything. Very nice and lovely owners, who gave us all of the attention to make our holiday superb! The room was clean and our bed was made every day. We had yummy breakfast and great sleep. The area is quiet and the villa is 7 min to the train station. We had welcome drinks, fresh fruit, water in the fridge and we were given some tips how to explore the area. If you are earmarked for activities in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast destinations like Positano, Amalfi etc. It is better to stay in Sorrento proper. Piano di Sorrento is a neighboring town and taxis are costly. Best way to go to Sorrento and other places is by train. Meta train station is the nearest one from the hotel and it is a 15 minute walk. However, it is cheaper to stay here than in Sorrento. So this factor can be an incentive to stay in Piano di Sorrento. The hotel is a boutique hotel. It was a great place to stay for us. Quieter than Sorrento, with really good local restaurants and great access to bus and train. The wider area was very busy at the time of our stay and I’d avoid early-mid September in future. It was very welcoming and we were shocked at how lovely the whole property was. Staff were incredibly helpful. Raffaele gave us loads of restaurants to go to and ideas of things to do and Maria was very helpful also. They even offered for drive us to the other side of amalfi coast when we were leaving. Definitely a better option than going for something wildly more expensive in sorrento.
