The old town of Salerno is well worth exploring with cobbled streets and hidden passageways. Excellent food options. There’s a nice wide pedestrian promenade along the Marina to walk up to old town. The port has ferries to take trips to the Amalfi coast. We went to Amalfi and got the bus up to Ravello (on our host’s recommendation). Make sure you buy your bus ticket before catching the bus. Lovely little town with very good restaurants. Everyone seems to be nice and friendly in this place. We were on foot and enjoyed walking everywhere. Easy to take the Ferry to go to discover Amalfi and Ravello. We felt safe everywhere and many people speak English. A perfect place to relax and take in the culture with little streets everywhere. Salerno was fairly good, unfortunately the accommodation we had booked through Booking.com really put a damper on the holiday overall. Would recommend the ferry to Amalfi for a good day out and would very much recommend the Ristorante Pinocchio, super place to eat. Salerno is a bit off the beaten tourist track, which is a relief in these days of over-tourism. It has a working port which is off to the side of the small city, so does not intrude too much on the overall look and ambience of the place. We greatly enjoyed discovering Salerno. It is quite attractive with a promenade and narrow park winding along the sea, and a pier where you can catch a ferry to the main points of the Amalfi Coast such as Positano and Capri. The historic centre is atmospheric and interesting with a beautiful cathedral, and many cafes, restaurants and shops. The food is delicious and well-priced. It's a great point of entry to the Amalfi Coast; much closer than Naples and much less hectic. A wonderful discovery!Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Cheap food, the place looks nice. Well connected to the airport by public transport, and to Naples and Amalfi Coast. Best part is of course the port and boat connection to Amalfi - but careful, with bad weather conditions the boats don't run and may be off schedule for multiple days.Guest review byJohanna O.

The location of the appartement is very close to the city centre and to the sea, Salerno is very walkable city. The neigbourhood was very quiet, right in front of the building is a market with fresh fruit and vegetables. Christina and Giovanni are superb hosts and no request big or small was an issue. The location is super as well as its within walking distance of train station, Salerno Concordia ferry port and all the hip eateries along the sea side. The room was extremely clean with all the amnesties that one could expect from a 5 star hotel. They had brochures for all the activities plus maps.
