The location is great - Ortigia is a very nice, clean and comfortable place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean, new and has everything for comfortable stay. The Very Best of Greece and Rome

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.

Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.

The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.

The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.

Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.

    Ortigia is where you need to stay and be Perfect for strolling through the streets, shopping, eating, drinking, soaking up the atmosphere and people watching There isn't a beach as such on Ortigia-mostly stone areas or areas with platforms. Best bet the beach club Zefiro Solurium. Which is next to the most beach like beach. And whilst it is miniscule, dipping in the sea is nice. And steps from the beach club Moon in Ortigia is a plant based restaurant and cocktail place. Amazing! In Siracusa itself a visit to the archaeological Park is a must. Very interesting

    Siracusa is a beautiful seaside town on the Mediterranean. It is full of history and the little lane ways come alive in the late afternoon where you can find a never ending selection of restaurants and bars.

    Great place both for the ancient remains, baroque, and the few Norman rests. The main drawback is the lack of information that should accompany all the beautiful monuments. For instance, there are no supports for the autonomous visit to the archeological park, just because the web site that should support it does not work. People in charge are kind, but provide info only on request and if you do not know what to ask you'll never know, for instance, how it is worth to visit the park, or that there are combo tickets for the park and the museum.

    Be sure to visit Chiesa di San Filipo Apostolo and do the underground tour. We enjoyed the one hour boat ride to the sea caves and around the Island. The Teatro di Puppi was also fun (and different).

    It’s a fun attractive city if you stay in the Ortigia area with lots of nice shops and great restaurants. Lots of small backstreets to explore. It’s pretty touristy, though, so visit in the off seasons.

    We stayed in Ortigia which was charming and lively. There was plenty to see and there were rocky beaches to cool off. There are places to sit by the water to watch sunsets. It definitely feels like a tourist town like Bruges.

    Breakfast was a feast and enjoyed by all. The whole hotel well set up and provisioned. Everything you expect to have at home was provided. Simply incredible. Our hosts went above and beyond to accommodate our every request even going so far as to meet us and guide us into Ortigia by car. As a first time driver in Italy and Sicily all the help I could get was invaluable and I am deeply grateful for their help and support. The location was perfect and quiet and I could not recommend staying here more highly. Thank you Maria and Andrea.

    We really enjoyed our stay there. The owners were great, welcoming. The place was nice with outside pool. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic as the pastries was homemade, I was always looking forward to next morning. Only thing what was not that good for us, we haven't had a car ( seems like a mistake in all Sicily) if you not planing known places and cities. But we get to Siracusa by the bus pretty easily. And the coast around property was stunnin, and highly recommend to visit Punta della Mola.

    The hotel was so central. It was pure perfection , when I left the hotel I missed it compared to some hotels I stayed in Sicily . It was spotless and so worth the extra money compared others in Syracuse . The breakfast was amazing . The staff were all pleasant and polite an amazing customer service. From the reception staff to the waitresses and waiters, the maids and the maintenance guys. All these people deserve a mention.. I will be back Miss you already

    The property is in great location. The host Marcello was brilliant, he was very attentive giving us loads of recommendations for restaurants and beaches and even took us out for a boat trip. Despite the great location it was very quiet and the only place in Sicily that we could park right outside. Perfect position for exploring Ortigia.
