Torri del Benaco is an absolute gem on the east of the lake.
Torri del Benaco is an absolute gem on the east of the lake. It may be overlooked because of the closeness of Garda and Bardolino but that would be a mistake. Special place for us. We used to stay here every year. It is nice and quite place with small shops, restaurants and beautiful views from every sides. There is also the ferry that will take you quickly and comfortably to the other side of the lake. There are nice places on the beach and the possibility of hiking and cycling. Very pretty little old town with very friendly people.
Very pretty little old town with very friendly people. There are some nice shops and many, many restaurants offering good food, particularly fish. Prices are comparable to any other tourist resort in the area. There is an interesting castle and many little ancient alleyways in the old part of town. In summer one can swim off the beach at the far end of town. It is a good location for short trips to other towns and villages along the lake by car, bus or ferry/boat. Public transport is reasonable but can be tricky getting from the airport. The taxi is much faster but will cost €85 each way.Guest review byF&IUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Torri del Benaco is just one of the pretty lakeside villages...
Torri del Benaco is just one of the pretty lakeside villages on Lake Garda, it is not so busy as other towns but does have a bit of a beach. There is a lovely lakeside walk with several restaurants offering delicious pizzas and pasta alongside tasty fish dishes. Our favourite was Ristorante Alla Grotta which has a superb terrace out over the lake but do be aware that if you want a lakeside table it is best to book in advance as this is a very popular restaurant - even at the beginning of June. Wonderful sunsets from any lakeside restaurant cap a lovely meal There is a bus service along the lake and a car ferry which also takes foot passengers, travels between Torri and Modena (across the lake) but the more tourist trip boats are few and far between at Torri so if you are looking for trips around the lake you will need to go to Garda where you will find a regular service going in several directions. Garda is a 10 minute drive by car from Torri and there is parking quite close to the boat station.Guest review byJaneFrance
