This was the most outstanding place we stayed at in Japan. The owner met us at the train station at the beginning of our 2 night stay and took care of us the entire time. He drove us to restaurants, supermarkets. The next day he picked us up and took us on a tour of all the shrines on the nearby mountain. He was informative, and catered to all our wishes with a great sense of humor and kind spirit. The whole experience was what we wanted from Japan,

Everyone there was wonderful, willing to help even with the language barrier. The dinner and breakfast were delicious (if you stay more than one night, note that you'll eat the same dinner and breakfast) The room and all the temple was super clean and calm. It was a great place to stay! I really love the ceremonies that I could witness, meditation in the evening, morning ceremony and goma ceremony (fire ceremony). The one thing I was surprised by is that the showers are "Onsen Showers" so it's in a commun room, with little stools where you can clean yourself before entering the bath. Not a negative point, just something I wasn't expecting. Thanks to all the staff there for a wonderful stay!

Koya-san has become too expensive to stay, so it was good to stay in Kudoyama. However, there are no buses and taxis stop at 5 p.m., so it would be good to have a car. However, the owner me us at the train station and also drove us to a restaurant and picked us up, after. Once we knew how to get to and from the station, it was not difficult. However, it is very hilly, and the owner picked us and our luggage up for the return trip, too!
