Everything was amazing. The couple were so kind and the room and all facilities were very clean. They were careful about the food, and because as one of us are vegan, they prepared a proper and rich meal. There is also a really cozy onsen that you can enjoy only for yourself. They also gave us an yukata.

I had expected the place to be a hotel and only realised after arriving that it was a traditional Japanese inn. The hosts were fantastic. Communication was with translation by iPhone but everything was clear. The inn is traditional so be prepared for the futon bed and the shared bathroom and washing facilities. But it's also small so we did not need to queue or wait. We were also provided with traditional dress which we wore to the craft beer bar close by. The hosts were wonderful. Everything from arranging a taxi to advice on what we needed for the hot spring bath in the village. The breakfast and dinner (it's an inn so both are included even though breakfast is mentioned only) were amazing. It was at a level I would expect in an expensive restaurant here but felt like you were in a home and not a hotel. The area is great for hiking and the village is just super nice. Great ice-cream place nearby also. All in all it was the best weekend break I have ever had and I have loads of memories - my advice is to go there and just immerse yourself without expectations. Ryota is a fantastic host, so welcoming and helpful. This is a place to escape from the world for a few days, the sound of the river down the hill. This is not an easy climb to the house for elderly or disabled people. Ryota has a cool trolley to bring up the luggage. If you want nature and relaxation this is amazing. If you want 5* hotel amenities then this is not it. We loved it. Ryota set up a BBQ for us which was a big highlight for our family. I would definitely recommend it and hope to come again. Thank you

We stayed for 1 night in Neold house with 3 people, with the omakase dinner. Yoshino is off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. Nestled within the mountains, we went after Sakura season which meant that the area was very green and very quiet. We had reached out a few times via booking.com, where they team had been very responsive and agreed to any request we had asked for. We were greeted on arrival and helped with our luggage. The property is stunning, with a number of surprises as you make your way through the building. The whole complex is yours to use, with the staff staying onsite (your stay in the house is still private, you are just able to call on someone if needed). The master bedroom is the star of the the show, with a good view out onto the Noh stage, which is much bigger than the photos look. What made the stay for us, however, was how accommodating the team at NEOLD were, going above and beyond for everything. We had visited for the night before our wedding, which we had planned out in the mountains in Nara, and so had more requests than most. Ogino, the chef and manager at NEOLD, prepared a private meal for us on the night of our arrival. We had a last minute request for the meal to be meat heavy (rather than fish) which he accommodated for us. It was by far one of the best meals we had in Japan, with Laurent, a very friendly Frenchman, translating all of the dishes for us and giving us some further insight into Japan. There was not any pressure to eat anything on your plate, with Ogino modifying the menu as he went along to make sure he fitted the meal to your taste. Given we needed to get up early for the wedding, Ogino insisted that they would be up at 5am to make sure we had some fruit and coffee ready for the day, before ensuring that my suit was steamed ready for the next day. The team at Neold made the morning of our wedding very special - helping us get ready, and being on hand for anything we could possibly need.

The location is breathtaking, with a stunning view of the river and mountains. The room was spacious, with a private toilet, all amenities, and breakfast provided in the fridge. The shared bathroom was very clean and tidy.

Excellent place!!! Strongly recommended!!!

Staff are friendly, they don’t speak English tho, food is amazing! I loved prayers in the morning, gorgeous Mountain Views & the cafe is so cute.

the location, the style of the house, everything we needed was there
