This is a really lovely hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely room, with a comfortable bed and all the things you need for a stay, USB ports to charge the phone etc as we didnt have an adaptor for Japanese plugs, tea coffee, fridge, plus all the toiletries in the bathroom. Loved having an all day buffet breakfast, it was so nice to come in after a day in the cold and rain and help ourselves to a hot drink and a croissant. Loved the free bikes with the booking, and the staff were so helpful in getting the bikes for us. We really felt that nothing was too much trouble in this hotel, whether it was getting the bikes for us or offering advice on how to get to a temple or garden. It was a great location and so easy to walk to the Metro. We never understood the bus service but I am sure if you can get to grips with that its good for those too. The fantastic Ninjo Castle is just a 5minute walk.

Breakfast was more than adequate & very nice. Good choices between continental & Japanese breakfast. In addition, we were offered eggs, salmon and or meat choices. The breakfast room was nicely decorated & bright to make a cheerful start to our day. All the staff were very hospitable & helpful, especially Sayuri - who spoke very good English. My family's special thanks to her! The entire property, without exception, was spotlessly clean & pleasant smelling. Above all, I must say that Mr. Kosei Kawasaki, the Duty Manager on that rainy morning did everything in his power to get us a big cab for the station and personally helped load the cab with our 6 pieces of luggage in the heavy rain. I loved returning to this hotel each day. Immediately, you have a lavender/rosemary? scent when walking in. The hotel is bright, ambient, and comforting. Upon check in we were offered a cup of tea and our luggage was waiting for us as we utilised the luggage transfer option offered in Japan. We also had the breakfast option and we took advantage of it every morning! They offered both a Japanese breakfast, and more American style breakfast which was so much appreciated. They also offered, fresh greens, yogurt, and fresh fruit as well. In the room there was a nice storage area to keep your shoes, jackets, dresses, day bags and we made use of it all every day. The room was cleaned every day and that service was very much appreciated although I didn't appreciate being told by the cleaners at 10:15AM I had a half hour to get out of the room for them to provide their cleaning services, as I had been suffering a migraine that morning and so moving about speedily was not really a priority! I was under the impression the signs for cleaning had to be out on the door by noon in order for cleaning services, so I was a bit confused why I had a half hour time limit to leave for them to clean the room at 10:15am, I understand they are trying to do their jobs though. Other than that, the service was impeccable and very helpful counter staff who would call us a taxi whenever we needed it, assisted with restaurant reservations, and also they assisted with the luggage transfer back to Tokyo!

Hotel Rings stood out for me with its modern design and its central location close to Nishiki Market. We were welcomed with a sake to celebrate sakura season, and our room was the biggest of our five hotels in Japan. Breakfast was outstanding, served in their Melbourne-style cafe. Our request to forward luggage was handled without issue, and overall, the staff were friendly and attentive.
