What an amazing place. Beautiful hostel, the individual bed in the dorm is super spacious and comfortable. The kitchen and social room are superb and the best part : 2 private onsens, what a dream. Highly recommend staying here during your trip

This was an excellent stay for me and my family. We missed our bus in Hongu to Kawayu and asked for help from the Kumano Tourist Information Centre. They called the hotel and the manager came right over to pick us up. Both the manager and his sister who was manning the counter were very kind and helpful. The location was wonderful - directly opposite the Onsen river, and next to the bus stand. Food (Dinner and Breakfast) was prepared and delivered freshly according to our time and it was very tasty. Rooms were a bit cold but comfortable. Overall, this was an excellent experience. Highly recommended for anyone considering Kawayu Onsen

It was a great experience, a cozy, beautiful, and traditional place. The best part was Mindi's attentiveness at all times. She was a wonderful host who took the time to show us the beautiful places and helped us understand everything we needed. Thank you, Mindi. This was our best Japnese experience. The hosts, Jordan and Natzumi did everything to make us welcome and comfortable. The food was the highlight of our stay, don't miss the dinner. Hongu is at the middle of the Kumano trail, we came with a car so we could visit different parts of the trail.

The private, unobstructed view of the Torii gate itself is worth booking this place for. But on top of that, it’s a spacious, beautiful traditional Japanese house. Easily the most beautiful stay of the trip. There’s a great ramen place and konbini (convenience) store just a few mins walk down the road. Sanae was so lovely and we loved the time we spent at this house. It's HUGE compared to any other accommodation we stayed at in Japan and it felt so nice having a place to ourselves to call 'home' for the short time we were here for the Hongu Loop hike. It was a perfect place to start the hike and we easily made the loop within 7-ish hours and a lunch break inbetween. It's not far from two bus stops which take you to and from the main train stations that got us back to Osaka.
