Wow! The Backyard Balangoda is something truly special. Nestled in the family’s beautiful tea plantation, it is a stunning retreat designed and created by talented young artist Sumit. From the architecture, through to the branding, and through the restaurant into the fabulous menu, everything has been carefully considered to give the visitor a completely unique Sri Lankan experience. The accommodation is in a rustic style, immaculately clean and-frame bungalow with the most stunning views over the valley - an absolutely magical experience to stay in and wake up to. While this is totally off the beaten tourist track, it’s so totally worth visiting - we were only sad we didn’t have time to stay a few more days. If it’s available, book it! Just make sure you book a few nights! Well done sumit! Keep doing what you are doing.

Extremely nice location in the middle of a tea estate. Very helpful and always friendly staff. Good kitchen with south Indian dishes. Many Option to get in contact with locals while wandering around in the tea plantation. Great for walks .

We had a warm welcome with tea/coffee offered upon arrival. During the stay the host was very approachable for any questions we had. It’s conveniently located and walking distance to the entrance of Adams Peak. Nice breakfast is served, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Absolutely amazing hotel! I cannot recommend this place enough! Stunning views, exceptional hospitality from the lovely staff, delicious (western style) food. My wife and I fell inlove with this hidden gem and will be visiting again. Shout out to Eranda for making this stay feel very special. Also a great spot for stargazing.
