The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

The food was incredible and the hosts were so generous with it, we could not finish it all. We loved the birds and the nature surrounding the property. Roshani took us to a beautiful sunset lookout point. We loved everything about our stay!

Amazing place, two bungalows near by the incredible swimming pool ! 🏊🏻‍♂️ Everything is clean, the staff is lovely, the food was delicious, home made cooking and the portions were huge ! 😋 Nice location if you want to do the safari, they arrange the safari for us, you don’t have to stress your mind. We will come back, a little heaven between the sugar can fields 🥰

The accommodation was amazing! So comfortable and welcoming, everything we needed.. The owners made us a great chicken curry for dinner and excellent breakfast before wr left. Great hospitality. We would definitely stay there again. They also do safari trips.

This was one of the most amazing places we’ve stayed, especially for such a great price! The clay hut was fantastic—spotlessly clean and filled with the delightful scent of cinnamon. The dinner was absolutely delicious, and the safari arranged by our host was truly unforgettable. We would definitely book with them again!

The best stay of our 1 month trip to Sri Lanka. I highly recommend Amba Kola Udawalawe. We spent 3 days and never wanted to leave. Rooms and the common area are artistically designed. Clean and tidy. The place was home away from home. Gayan’s mum cooked us delicious dinners and breakfast. She made special olive pickle for afternoon snack. Gayan found a place to stay for our van driver and took dinner to his accommodation. We used Gayan safari jeep and the safari jeep driver was very knowledgeable.
