The room was very spacious with amazing views, yet, there is some construction which takes away from it. The hotel was super clean, with very helpful and kind staff. The breakfast buffet was exceptional as well as the other restaurants with the hotel. All the dishes were fresh, and tasty with good portions.

A Dream Stay at The Edison – Penang’s Best Boutique Hotel! From the moment we arrived at The Edison, we were swept away by its charm and elegance. This boutique hotel, housed in a beautifully restored historic mansion, feels like stepping into a piece of Penang’s rich heritage – but with all the modern comforts you could ever want. The location is simply unbeatable: right in the heart of George Town’s UNESCO heritage center, making it effortless to explore the city’s colorful streets, historic landmarks, and vibrant food scene. The interiors are absolutely gorgeous. Every detail, from the grand entrance to the tranquil courtyard, has been lovingly preserved and tastefully updated. Our room was spacious, airy, and refreshingly cool – a perfect retreat after wandering through the tropical heat. The pool is a hidden jewel – calm, inviting, and surrounded by lush greenery. We spent hours there unwinding. And the complimentary all-day lounge? What a fantastic idea! Whether you need a quick snack, a cold drink, or just a quiet corner to relax, it’s always available and beautifully stocked. But what truly elevates The Edison to a class of its own is the exceptional staff. They are the very soul of this hotel – warm, professional, and endlessly helpful. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, every single person we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcome and cared for. Their restaurant recommendations were outstanding, and they gave us wonderful tips for excursions that made our stay unforgettable. The Edison isn’t just a hotel – it’s an experience. It combines heritage, comfort, and a level of hospitality that is rare to find. We travel often, but few places have left such a lasting impression. If you’re visiting Penang, don’t even think twice. Stay at The Edison. It’s hands down the best hotel in the city, and we can’t wait to come back!

It is exactly like on the photos, it makes you feel so so good to stay in a place like that after a while of travelling. The staff is very nice and helpful, they are available all the time. They let us leave our luggage for a couple of hours and prepared a plan for sightseeing which was helpful while designing our own plan. There is a lot of places to eat breakfast nearby. Everything was perfect

Walking through George Town feels like stepping into a living museum with rows of pastel-painted shophouses, grand colonial mansions, Chinese clan houses, temples, mosques, and churches stand within blocks of each other. Its narrow streets are filled with hawker stalls serving some of Malaysia’s most beloved dishes. Independent cafés, boutique hotels, and art galleries thrive inside restored heritage buildings, blending old-world charm with modern flair.

The food was the stand-out attraction for me; the variety, quality and availability was exceptional. You can go from breakfast on the side of the street for 7 MYR all the way to Michelin-star restaurants (can't speak for them though!), but everything has it's charm. The weather was very favourable and everyone was welcoming. It is a popular tourist destination, so if you're looking to get away from other tourists I wouldn't recommend it, but there's plenty to see and do.

I loved the town: the history, variety of wonderful foods and cultural experiences, shopping. For us as Australians, prices were very reasonable. Travel around town by Grab (=Uber) is highly recommended as it is cheap, reliable and comfortable - just download the app. Saves energy and strength in the heat. We loved the pop-up street food stalls and also some of the established cafes and restaurants. Highly recommend Lebuh Kimberley in the evening for street food, Lada (Western-Asian fusion), Laksalicious, D'sakra (Indian), Black Kettle (Australian/Western), Urban Daybreak Cafe (very Melbourne). Visit Penang Hill once or twice - lots to see and do. The Upside Down Museum and Wonderfood Museum are fun and interesting. Don't miss Armenian Street and Cheong Fatt Tze The Blue Mansion.

I liked the staff, one of whom was available 24/7. I appreciated the spacious 2-level rooms with 2 bathrooms, the view of trees outside my window, the very comfortable bed and also that the location was so close to everything in George Town. I had a lovely 3-night stay here. There was only one problem and that had nothing to do with the hotel.
