The location was perfect, just 100m from Amsterdam Noord which was very easy to travel around the city from any metro station. The receptionist gave us a free drink vouchers because it was my girlfriend birthday and was a very good welcome for us at Amsterdam and Tribe Hotel. The facilities in the hotel are very beautiful and they have a perfect bar where u can spend a late night talk when you are back from a long day walking around Amsterdam. I suggest anyone who wants to go to Amsterdam to pick this hotel because you wont be disappointed.

Trams are easy to navigate round the city with a pass, river cruise is a must, van Gogh museum too. Anne Frank house very humbling and you must book tickets in advance. The resistance museum was ok. Otherwise enjoying the city strolling around and exploring at your own pace. The city is amazing. Step out of the main city to the residential areas on the number 2 tram takes you past some lovely reasonable restaurants.

Two days are just enough to get to know the town.

Two days are just enough to get to know the town. The population is also very diverse, so as a gay person, I felt very safe there, especially in the centre. Beware the southeast, though, there are some “ghettos” and you can come across some weird people, but that thankfully wasn’t my case. The public transport is modern as well as cheap, just 15€ for two days as of 2025. All the ferries crossing the river are free.

It has a relaxed quality for such a big city.

It has a relaxed quality for such a big city. There's no end of things to see and do (book in advance though). Exploring by foot is great and you can easily get around on the tram network. Lots of shops, if that's your thing and plenty of places to eat - street food type places were our go-to, restaurants can be pricey. It's great for families. We enjoyed walking around in Vondelpark spotting the parrots (a healthy, free activity!)

Shops, food and sightseeing are highlights.

Shops, food and sightseeing are highlights. Book everything before you go or you won’t get in particularly Ann Franks house etc. Make sure you do a canal trip and cheese tasting - highly recommended. Felt very safe despite the reputation Amsterdam has for relaxed laws and never felt uncomfortable. So much to see and do - it’s a lovely city. The tram system is easy once you get your head around it.

Amsterdam really has a littering problem. It may have been because the "Sail 2025" was on, but the city authorities truly need to take this more seriously and sort it out. It's such a beautiful city, and it deserves better!
