FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of kilometres from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular, are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

Oslo was beautiful and so easy to navigate.

Oslo was beautiful and so easy to navigate. One of the best cities I have ever visited. Not too busy. Got to travel to small Oslo islands and explore using the amazing ferry network. Use the Ruter app as it’s so easy to find which transport to use and buy tickets. The seawater pool was a highlight for the family. Would definitely return! Yummy food at Peppes Pizza, Bastard Burger and San Francisco Bread Bowl. The coffee at Kaffebrenneriet Frogner was amazing and the staff were wonderful.

Oslo is a great city to be in.

Oslo is a great city to be in. I have visited many times and while the usual sites are great, I have grown to love the city even more as I discover place further away from the centre. For example, you can absolutely visit the museums on Bygdøy, but there are also lovely beaches and walking trails to discover if you venture a little further. And because public transport is excellent, it's very easy to get around.

We visited Oslo as a family with two kids (8 and 11).

We visited Oslo as a family with two kids (8 and 11). It is a great city to visit. Safe, clean and plenty to do. Kids are very well catered for in all the museums. And then there is always swimming if you need a day off. And ferry trips to local islands. Food was delicious and everyone was super nice. It is really easy to navigate the city and surroundings, with or without public transport. Loads of nice places for lunch and dinner. Yokoso was our favourite. Not to mention all the bakeries. Would definitely recommend it.

Oslo is very nice if you love nature.

Oslo is very nice if you love nature. I went on two different hikes, they are quite easy hikes since the mountains are not that high, but the views from the top are beautiful. The city is quite small so if you're not into hiking and exploring forests etc I would not stay here for more than two days. And as all of scandinavia it is quite expensive, the prices in general are also higher when compared to Sweden.

I expected Oslo to be clean like Stockholm but I was surprised to be so wrong. Other than that It’s a beautiful city. We enjoyed island hopping, the Fram, the Opera House and the fishmarket. We enjoyed taking trams & seeing neighborhoods we wouldn’t normally see. We stayed for 5 days & we enjoyed ourselves.

very clean city, the Opera house and the area near Munch...

very clean city, the Opera house and the area near Munch museum are great. Design is amazing, perfect for trip with children - very kids friendly - lots of parks and kids menus everywhere. Quite pricey but I think Oslo is known for it, especially food - for the price we pay we receive very basic meal and service is very average. Very walkable, everything is within walking distance and if not, public transportation works great. You can also rent an electric scooter. We ate at Hos Peder in Grunerlokka and we loved the food. The next day we ate at Mathallen (a place where you can choose between different restaurants) but for the price it was quite average. Ice cream at Paradis is a must :)

I liked the city and that hotel was a great stay. Check in was super quick and automated. In the room I had a comfortable bed, a big wardrobe, mirror with shelf and a desk with a chair and cup holder. The bathroom was clean. As for food, there is a restaurant, supermarket and coffee shop that serves nice pizza too. It is 5 minute walk to the metro and 2 minutes to the bus stop. The city center is 15 minutes away by metro.

It’s a grand hotel and one of the architectural highlights in Oslo. We loved our room - a junior suite with a view - and even though it overlooked a major square and the tram trundled by during the day, it was nice and quiet at night. The rooftop bar was fun - make sure to reserve in advance- and we enjoyed the hotel bar and Afternoon Tea.

The hotel was very centrally located right next to the train station. It was within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and we were able to walk to the hotel after a very long train ride from Copenhagen. Although the hotel is in the city centre, it was quiet and I was able to sleep well.
