Simply amazing. One of the best hotel experiences ever - and we have had many. Such a lovely, historical college building, beautiful decor, cleanliness and perfect customer service. A beautiful room and bathroom, lovely bed and linens. We also liked the continental breakfast a lot. I have celiac diseace and had yet a good choise. The breakfast hostess earns our special thaks. Location in the Arts Centre was great with shops a lovely restaurants and a cafe. Sadly the antiquities museum was closed Mon - Tue. Also the museum tram has its stop very close. Keep up the service-minded spirit. Thank you! ♥️🇫🇮

Loved absolutely everything, from the well thought out design to the comfortable bed. The view from the bathtubs and even the ability to Bluetooth your own music through the room. The staff were extremely helpful from the moment I made the booking. Even organised a platter to be brought down to us to enjoy with our complimentary bottle of wine.

It was perfect as last location of our whole trip. We have stayed there for two nights befor our return flight home. We have immediately felt home and cosy. Jackie and Steve are extraordinary hosts - thank you so much! The room was wonderful, comfortable and spacious. The location right in the middle of everything and directly at the old tramway is perfect. The breakfast together with others guests was awesome and delicious. Thank you so much! We loved it!

Stunning Natural Beauty at Your Doorstep

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city and offer world-class ski resorts such as Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

    Vietnamese Restaurant was excellent and not expensive. Thai Orchid had lovely live music on Sunday evening and wonderful atmosphere and music. Many restaurants close by. Hagley Park was within walking distance and had an amazing light show, Illuminate.

    Good location - room was large and well presented.

    Good location - room was large and well presented. Very powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Staff were friendly and helpful. One negative - the TV did not function properly - it changed channels of its own accord.

    This is our favourite place to stay and have been staying...

    This is our favourite place to stay and have been staying here since 2004 . All staff are wonderful and welcoming. Food in the Den Bar and the restaurant fabulous and it’s good to have the choice as we have family that come into see us as we live out of Christchurch. Will be back in December. Merivale Mall is always worth a visit. Sumner and New Brighton are great sea experiences.

    My old home town so maybe a bit 1 eyed. Best hairdresser ever in Papanui I travel many, many kms to get my hair cut their. It's a cutting bar, no need for appointments and very, very realistic prices start at $20 It's just back before the Northland mall probably 3 blocks back towards the city. there's a need wee vegie shop and a great bike shop in the wee shops that are there. George and his lovely offsider have been through the mill with the quakes.

    A city being redesigned and rebuilt. Somewhat ‘empty’ but not deserted. A fresh and positive feel. The adorable Avon River runs through town…… worth exploring all the way to the coast on cycles. Heaps of parks, many with features suitable for kids. Earthquake Museum was fascinating……. my 14 & 12 year old boys were mesmerised. No earthquakes back in Sydney. Good food all over the city. We caught public buses(route 29) from airport and return. Recommended!! Great city!

    It was in winter and the traffic was pretty light - no problem getting around. Museums and art galleries as you would expect in a city - Pretty good. Great views of the city from the top floor of the library. Plenty of good eating out options.

    Great stay at Urbanz last night. I was finishing a contiki tour in Christchurch so booked a double room. I was really happy with the spacious room, bathrooms were just outside and showers. Was really quiet in the room considering I was in room 117 beside the door to the kitchen and hallway. Showers were powerful and warm, bathroom facilities good. Cheaper than a hotel but 4 star hotel standards! Would definitely stay again.

    Had everything that we needed. Self check in but instructions were clear. Very quiet secure location. Very good underground car park. Again very secure. Within easy walking distance of central Christchurch and sites. More like an AirBNB than a apartment hotel. Seemed as if the other apartments were occupied by permanents.
