The home and gardens were stunning. There was so much to look at and enjoy. It was very comfortable and warm. The hosts had lit the fire and the lights were on, it was very welcoming. We loved the pigs and the wee cat! Can’t wait to return.

Eden Cottage lived up to its name - it couldn’t have been more perfect! The views out every window are utterly sublime - there is the layered and dramatic Maniototo mountains beyond the rolling green hills and we were allowed to walk up the inviting path towards them in the evening, on a blissful walk with dramatic skies overhead that words can’t describe. The cottage itself is utterly charming and has everything you need, including a bloody awesome wee wood-burner which was stoked to the top with wood and ready to light, which we did. Upon getting cosy, a visitor arrived at the door, Polly the cat. Now I’m a serious cat person, my friend more of a dog woman but Polly gave that dog woman so much love I made a photo shoot to forever convince her why cats are great. Polly is gorgeous, the perfect cat, the perfect finishing touch on a perfect cottage with perfect views… super comfy beds - I slept like an absolute queen (and I’m a terrible sleeper) in my single bed - I literally didn’t move. Lovely linens throughout, and that delicious rural silence to help zzzz off. The family were lovely, friendly and extremely accommodating right down to the ‘no one is booked for tonight, so no rush to be off by checkout time’ text we received the next morning. And Chloe’s artwork - wow she’s so talented! The paintings in the bedrooms - just made me smile so much - you’ll have to go to see it, and the photo of four trees in the living room - windswept, dramatic, beautifully composed, framed - and my excitement the next day to see those same four trees in the distance out my bedroom window. This place is Eden, in terms of my aesthetics. You just know very good people are nearby, and have thought of you when you’re snug in Eden Cottage. I’ll be spreading the word about this absolute wee gem, and oh my goodness I’ll be back. It’s just metres from the rail trail, which as it happens is what we did the next day, my friend having turned up from Wanaka with a couple of e-bikes.

The most gorgeous farmstay I've ever been to. Views from the property are outstanding. There is plenty of privacy for guests and nice facilities to keep yourself entertained. The local pubs were full and the wonderful host cooked a lovely dinner for us to enjoy together in front of the fire place.

The reason we keep coming back to Naseby is because it has so much for us to do. We enjoy walking and eating, the Royal Hotel especially and being in places that have a sense of history and are unspoiled. There is an all year curling rink, tennis courts, a swimming dam and kids can ride their bikes or go to the playground without worrying about busy roads etc. People are friendly and nothing feels hectic or rushed. My children (all grown now) came here in their school holidays, and now they are bringing their children

Lovely small town filled with history and people proud of their heritage. Lots of informative material available. Quite a few interesting historic buildings. A drive to Dansey Inn is a must! Excellent curling rink with very friendly people ready to teach the secrets of the sport.

Very quiet place, relaxing and beautiful.

Very quiet place, relaxing and beautiful. Plenty of activities for the physically adventurous. Not far from Naseby are great places to visit e.g. Danzey’s Pass, (great pub with meals there); Waipiata (another great pub with amazing pies!); StBathan’s with its beautifully reflective lake, outstanding land formations and another good pub; Grampian an amazing little place full of interesting history and the schoolhouse is worth a visit; Ranfurly...good for groceries and other necessities.
