Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. I absolutely love Jarmark Dominikański; the Old Town truly comes alive with food stalls offering flavors from around the world. It's the perfect place to eat, drink, and shop for unique items you won’t find elsewhere. If you're a history lover, I highly recommend visiting the Amber Museum or the Museum of the Second World War—both offer fascinating insights into the city’s rich past. For a relaxing day, head to Żabianka Beach. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful coastal walk all the way to Sopot.
