Very pleasant staff and check in process. Grounds and hotel very nice. Restaurant first rate, dinner and breakfast both very good. The grounds are excellent for walking (although the map isn’t to scale so one’s location can get confusing sometimes). Yes the WiFi is poor except in Salon area but its absence made the stay feel more authentic in a way. (T-Mobile’s roaming partner’s LTE service was very good so buy a data pass if it is that important to you).

The hotel is a 20 min walk away from the high speed train station, about 5 minutes from the local train station or the bus station. It sits on the edge of old town, so all sights can be easily reached on foot. Restaurants options are close too, the hotel has its own one too. My room was pretty large as well, with coffee and tea being provided as well, the room even had two arm chairs.

Elegant and old-world charm - the atmosphere of the Hotel Residencial Alentejana is beautiful, unique, welcoming. It´s so nice to stay somewhere that is not a franchise and doesn´t have IKEA furniture! This place is very Portuguese: stylish and traditional. Our room was enormous and had lots of dark wood furniture. The beds, doors, wardrobe were antique and in great condition, the floor was parquetry. We are a family of 3 and stayed in a room with a double bed and single. The location was perfect for us, we wanted to stay just outside of the old-town and near the botanic gardens.

They have now a indoor swimming pool in 2016 when I came with my children even the elevator wasn’t working, now it was and the little touch of the pool after traveling it was just good
