It was calm and the bed and room where really comfortable especially the cotton sheets. Perfect temperature and the balcony was just perfect to enjoy the view of the river. Located just before the park and the wall which is ideal. Walking distance to every attraction in town.

Location: Exceptional. The hotel is located in the 17th century fortress with great views for the Minho river and Spain on the other bank of the river. Surrounded by the lovely old town constructed inside the fortress. The hotel is located at the Caminho de Santiago, so the daily rhythm is different – everything closes early and opens early according to the pilgrims’ needs. Do not expect any restaurant (including the hotel restaurant) open at 21:00. Access by car is challenging as you must cross three narrow gates to enter the fortress. Hotel: Huge common space with views for the river and fortifications. Regular size tables for reading on work available. Room: Large and comfortable, bag rack available electric sockets: available, but only one and not near the bed lighting: good, including a ceiling lamp Stairs/elevator: hotel rooms are located on the upper level, no elevator. Bed: large and very comfortable. Bathroom: Large, warm, enough space for toiletries. Breakfast: Good (but not excellent), sweets, fruits, ham and cheese. WiFi: Good. Staff: Nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, with enough options for vegetarians, and people with diabetes. Room was clean as it supposed to be in hotel. Hotel looks a bit old, but with spa package it is good deal, for the price. I think it was 63 for hotel room, or 75 for room with spa package for 2 ppl. So it is worth to take this package since spa cost is 12-15 eur per person.

Great characterful hotel in a lovely town. Really helpful, friendly staff. Good breakfast and a really good restaurant for evening meals. Good off road parking. Location very good and avoids the narrow cobbled streets. Really enjoyable stay.
