Staff is wonderful, but still somewhat unexperienced. The place is new. Staff is not aware of what is going on in town (two festivals when we were there for instance). Batalha has two relatively fine restaurants: Vintage (TV always on) and Trintta (no TV). Both nearby, but u need a car. And: if you are not around your pool deck deckchairs for 30 mins, you have to 'abandon' them, a good policy often lacking at hotels, leading to hoarding of these deckchairs.

All staff were extremely kind and helpful (reception, spa and restaurant). Room was very nice and comfortable and the spa is great. Food standards are high: we had excellent dinner and breakfast. Location is good, close to Alcobaca and very short drive from Nazare. We had a very relaxing break.

Follow Hotel Sao Jorge ( not Hotel S Jorge) on Sat Nav. Hotel on main road so you can’t miss it. LIDL is next door, together with small shopping mall, Burger King next to LIDL. We had a small dog with us so didn’t walk too much further due to being on a main road, however as we drove out of the Hotel, there were plenty more restaurants and shops further along the main road within walking distance. We were met by the owner in the reception area who guided us to our chalet. The gardens are perfectly kept, lovely grassed areas with a large swimming pool ( smaller pool for children) and lots of sun loungers either in the gardens or on the patio area. Our dog was more than happy to lie in the shade with us. Parking directly outside the chalet with small table and chairs. Chalet was small but adequate, twin beds, basic furniture, wall mounted TV, large powerful shower, very basic toiletries (hand wash and shower gel), hairdryer, A/C. No mini fridge or tea/coffee facilities. Very good Wifi in all areas, small restaurant by the pool but only open 7am-10am for B/F ( we didn’t visit). We were surprised how nice this place was and would recommend for a stop over or couple of nights.

We loved our stay in Monte do Mosteiro! Sadly it was just for one night, otherwise I would recommend to stay longer! The best thing about this booking… the bed! The comfiest bed and pillows (they even have 2 options for pillows for those who like softer/hard pillows). The little living room (with a huge smart tv btw) is definitely the cherry on top! Everything was perfect. Also the host was super nice and even told us a bit about Portugal’s History and best stops to visit. Thank you, we will definitely comeback!
