A lot of monasteries are situated close to Gura Humorului: Humor, Moldovita, Sucevita, Voronet and Putna - a little bit further. You can visit 2 (two) museums dedicated to the traditional art of decorating Easter eggs - one in Moldovita, the other one in Vama. There is also a very nice steam train in Moldovita - you have to book it in advance. For those who like to take nice pictures, there is a place called Panorama Bucovinei. The city itself is nothing special (although it has a very nice park just to the south of downtown). What make Gura Humorului important is how central it is to the painted monasteries. Despite what we imagined, the city is quite big.
Despite what we imagined, the city is quite big. However, the beauty stands in the places that you can visit nearby, not in staying within the city. There are many monasteries to visit nearby, there is also an Adventure Park and there are many trails you can take to visit the surroundings.
