Beautiful recently renovated and clean room with a stunning view of the mountains. It has a nice two person private sauna you can reserve. The restaurant serves good Slovak food and drinks for very reasonable prices. They even have their own souvenirs, postcards and snacks for sale. But most of all it's a lovely mountain hut with the benefits of a hotel, and the perfect base for hikers who want to enjoy nature. Multiple marked trails are right outside of your doorstep! It's accessible by foot or fernicular (expensive cable car), and just outside of the business and tourism of Hrebienok if like us you don't like the skiing vibe.

A hotel with a select atmosphere and a very nice and special host. It is very well located in relation to the areas of tourist interest. Very good breakfast with the possibility of ordering fried eggs or an omelette. The pool hall and other games are a plus. We recommend and hope for a return.

Really nice, clean apartments. The view is spectacular from the balcony, it is well equipped if you want to cook for yourself. The railway station, restaurants and hiking starting points are very close. The check-in, check-out is convenient, the host responds quickly if you have questions. I would recommand the place for my friends!

    Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka.

    Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka. Its clean, quiet and lovely. It is a perfect starting point for Slavskovksy Stit hike or through Hrebienok you can have Teryho Chata, Priecna veza, Zbojnicka chata trip within a day. For a post-hike refuel, i warmly suggest to have a Gazda burger in Pizza and Burger Vana. They have a several comfortable seats outside, its quick and tasty. However, dont try to buy grocery after 6, shops are closed in the evening.

    The greatest choice I've made.

    The greatest choice I've made. It's pretty small, but if you want to escape all the city buzz - it's pure perfection. Lots of greenery, the town is clean and you can easily go hiking from here.

    Good starting point for trips to Strbske pleso, Tatranska...

    Good starting point for trips to Strbske pleso, Tatranska Lomnica or Hrebienok. I like the dark beer at the tram station buffet. I always have lunch in Bistro Smokovec in the main street, it's a cafeteria style, but very good choice and delicious dishes.

    What a lovely town but be aware it is at the base of the...

    What a lovely town but be aware it is at the base of the mountains so if like me you live in a flat part of the world then after a few walks around the area your calf muscles are going to feel it haha. Actually this has helped me want to get a little fitter. Most of the shops are selling expensive Ski brands of clothing as you would expect but the Co Op food store is wonderful and you are spoiled for choice when it comes to eating out - with Spitz being our favorite. The funicular is a must, the Grand Hotel has a wellness that can be reserved and the towns train station is right on your doorstep and the trains are comfortable, clean and modern and amazingly cheap.

    I love Vysoke Tatry and Stary Smokovec.

    I love Vysoke Tatry and Stary Smokovec. You have all the needed winter attractions in one place. Slopes for beginners and pro skiers, an icerink, very good restaurants, and a place for sledding. The Tarty mountains are beautiful there. I have been there 6th time and for sure I will be back.

    With the recent development of modern apartment houses I...

    With the recent development of modern apartment houses I find it has some of the best choice of accommodation and services (shops, restaurants) in the High Tatry areas. I stayed through New years eve and it had a nice lively but not too loud ambience with entertainment options available but not too noisy. The location makes it also easy to get around either to Tatranska Lomnica on one side or Strbske pleso on the other. What I miss is an option for an easy walk (not hiking) which the other mentioned do have (park or lake side).
