There was a room with a keurig coffee maker but no breakfast…we sat on a veranda overlooking the Mississippi River with our coffee…very peaceful and nice!

Walking to shops and eateries was within a reasonable distance and very nice. The Burlington had it's own bar open in the evening and was the perfect enjoyable spot relaxing with a beverage and the owner was the server sharing many historical stories about the area.

Terrific small town along the river in the middle of Wisconsin motorcycle riding country. Pick a direction and let the fun begin. At the end of the day enjoy a drink at the Burlington Hotel, or beer and a burger the Dam View Bar.

You cannot visit Alma without wanting to know about the river and rail history there. Visit the museums, but check the hours carefully. All views are breathtaking. Watch the boats lock-through. Barge and tug traffic is fascinating. Eagles are abundant and other birds (like swans) migrate through here. Hiking around town (although it's fully drivable) is a wonderful form of exercise since the main road is the only river-level drive. The rest is all uphill. Some "streets" are actually staircases. Fun! The views are spectacular. MUST visit: Buena Vista park overlooking the Mississippi River and surrounds. No grocer, but plenty of food options and quick-stops like gas stations. Also seek out the artisan shops (Mississippi River pearls and Jennifer's knit and craft shop in the Burlington Hotel, for examples).
