I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel, especially because it's kind of in the middle of nowhere and I expected it to be a rundown motel. Was very happy with the quality of the hotel.

I like being able to tune into the NHL playoff game between the Oilers and Golden Knights at the local bar. That was a big game and that meant a lot to me. I also enjoyed eating pizza during the game.

Don't miss this place.
Don't miss this place. If you like an unique view into the history of the wild, wild west surrounded by mining, processing, and ghost towns, in one of the most extreme environments on the planet, this is it!

Fun weekend with good music, great car show and very cool model train expo at the Community Center. Good food and friendly service at the VFW. A bonus is the Rhyolite ghost town about 5 miles west of Beatty.

The main point of Beatty is the good access to Death Valley.
The main point of Beatty is the good access to Death Valley. I found the Rebel Garage and its convenience store good, though prices were understandably higher than supermarkets. The Burro pub located opposite Rebel garage is excellent with friendly service. Beatty has a lovely old world feel about it, with a long mining history.

Beatty is a very small town with a big heart.
Beatty is a very small town with a big heart. Wild burros, family owned restaurants & businesses nestled just outside of Death Valley NP. I would recommend staying in Beatty instead of inside the park. El Portal motel was a great place to stay. Has all the amenities travelers need. Support the local restaurants and businesses.

To be honest, upon first arriving in Beatty my husband was kind of concerned about what our hotel might be like. (He hadn’t seen the pics). It’s a small old mining town with not much there and quite a lot of rundown buildings, but nonetheless a welcome oasis in the desert. There were only about three real options on a Monday night to find dinner (the few other places were small local places with limited menu options which may have been okay, but some of those even were closed or out of business) so we went with the Denny’s in the casino as a safe bet and had some delicious burgers. There is a large nice candy and ice cream store which we also visited. There is also a really cool looking building being renovated with intricate metal work on the outside. I hope they complete the job as it would be the gem of the town. Our hotel, The Death Valley Inn & RV Park, looked to be the best place to stay with the casino hotel next. I chose Beatty over Pahrump to save a little distance to returning to Death Valley the next day, to stay in a more unique location at a non-chain hotel, the ability to visit the ghost town and Goldwell Open Air Museum in Rhyolite as added attractions, and for the possibility of seeing the wild burros, which we happily briefly did in town (we actually also spotted about 10 of them on the hill near the ghost town). All in all, it was a good night’s stay with friendly people that met our needs.

This is a basic motel but it completely met our needs during our time there. The employees were truly helpful and checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. The room was clean. The location is close to some good restaurants and is an excellent jumping off point for exploring Death Valley and nearby sites. Watch for burros on the road as you leave town!
Situated in a lovely small town on the Nevada/California border. I adored the wild mules that ventured past my motel door. Within walking distance to a bar and restaurant and also a petrol (gas) station. Staff very friendly.

Very modern and nice motel. The room was clean and staff very friendly.
A lot of the more affordable motels in the US are a bit dated, but not this one. So very welcome change.
