Nice historical city.
Nice historical city. Rich history of rice crops making it wealthiest city in the south. I loved the Barbados inspired architecture of homes with side porches. Enjoyed learning of the Gullah Geechee culture and the seagrass baskets. Quaint town and great food as well as beautiful scenery. The best part about Charleston is all the history. The buildings, house streets they all have so much character. The entire city is beautiful. You can shop, sightsee, or just sit along the shoreline. With only 24 hours in Charleston, we visited during the Southern heatwave of July 2025 so hot weather curbed our activities. With temperatures of 100F and 87% humidity it was too hot to do many of the things we would have liked. However a carriage ride around the French Quarter, with Palmetto Carriages' knowledgeable driver Elliot, gave us a taste of this historical district. Would recommend Anson Cafe (actually a big restaurant) near the market. Lovely food and excellent service. And of course, the French Quarter Inn. We were interested in history and food, and we were immersed in both. Saw Ft. Sumpter, an antebellum mansion and a plantation. What was expected. It was fun shopping at The Market and King Street.
It was fun shopping at The Market and King Street. It was nice seeing the Pineapple Fountain and Rainbow Row. We visited The Boone Plantation and loved it. Highly recommend eating at Church and Union. It was beautiful. Hyman's Seafood was also really good. We did not rent a car. We either walked or ordered an uber.Guest review byKayUnited States

The room was clean and the bed was confortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a free shuttle going from the hotel into the Historic District - great service! I used the shuttle several times and found it very convenient in stead of driving into Charleston and looking for parking. The restaurant at the top floor has a great view - and good food.
