We were unable to stay in Schulenberg for a wedding due to short notice and high demand from other area events. On a whim we headed into "downtown" Columbus and really enjoyed the historical homes, the wonderful little Kay Klauber Candies ( the owner is such a gem) & Hound Song brewery that was just awesome. Found Schobels restaurant for breakfast buffet that is delicious and hard to beat the price. Nancy's steak house was nice though get spoiled surrounded in Houston.Guest review byAndre - 10.0

We had no idea of the historical significance of Columbus, Texas. From being home to the 2nd oldest tree in Texas, a Live Oak that is 500 years old, to the western town feel, historic markers, the Colorado River, several museums, we could have stayed longer. I only got to stay for one night and had to leave early in the morning but I would have loved to stay longer.
