Chaos & confusion. Needed a map to find our way around. I love to eat but definitely not there. If anyone moves there that can cook they will be popular and wealthy. The Florence/Muscle Shoals area is my favorite place. I love the cities, the atmosphere, etc. I had not eaten at Ricatoni's before and I did get to eat there and it was a delicious meal. I also managed to visit some of the downtown shops, etc. and thoroughly enjoyed that. I usually stay at The Shoals Marriott, but decided to try The Stricklin Hotel. I was not pleased with that experience as compared to The Marriott. I would have much preferred to stay at The Marriott.Guest review byRay - 4.0

We drove 6 hours to see what was advertised, as a Fourth of July celebration, at McFarland park, only to find it had been CANCELLED!!! The majority of the venues and restaurants were closed on Sunday, and other tourists, including ourselves, were wandering around looking at closed businesses. Very disappointing. Our room at the Stricklin was filthy, and didn’t appear to have been cleaned in weeks. Filthy sheets, and housekeeping had already left when we checked in, so the desk clerk brought up sheets. The hotel is very tired looking and everywhere looks as though it needs a good scrub. Our room carpet was very dirty and sticky, the room had a funny smell, I ended up wearing my shoes to even go to the bathroom. Clearly the hotel needs a refurbishment. The lift floor looked just as bad. We were only staying one night so put up with it but wont stay at any Hampton Inn again.
