Avoid Hagman Motel. Booked for my wife while she was traveling in a unpopulated area of Kansas. She was very tired and there were no other options. No staff on duty during normal business hours. When she called the phone number listed she was told to pick a key out of a mail box that was unsecured by office door. Anyone could have made copies of the keys. No deadbolt on door. Never seen place this isolated or potentially dangerous. She obviously did not stay in the room.

The Best Western Plus is a great hotel in this town. And Bonnie and Clyde’s Sports Bar had really good food, a good selection of drinks and excellent staff—and they are open 7 days a week! Definitely the place to stop between Eastern Kansas and points in New Mexico and Arizona.

Hugoton is not a big tourist attraction. If is a clean little town. I recommend Janet's Bridal and Boutique if people are there when it is open. It was a surprisingly sophisticated boutique for such a small town. I grew up in this town, so it holds an attraction for me. The place was convenient on the way to Santa Fe, so we stayed there.
