Room was comfortable and the location was great - Walmart just down the road and La Junta downtown was only a few minutes away with great food options. We left early in the morning but the staff offered us the breakfast to go. Good selection of items (as a hiker I loved the hard boiled eggs option that was in the fridge). Would stay here again.

It happened that I accidentally booked 2 rooms - instead of just one, and the front desk person worked with me to transfer the room to a friend of a friend who did not have a room booked. The clerk was careful to protect me as well as help others…. I would say she went the extra mile to help! I will be back!

The room was dirty stuff left from previous guest. Towels were so thin they were shredding apart. Smoke detector was not plugged in and working. Not much to do in La Junta.
Not much to do in La Junta. Restaurant choices very limited, and town does not have much to offer. Surroundings however are beautiful if you are into hiking - the National Comanche Grassland is fascinating. Photo of Purgatoire River near the dinosaur's tracks (a gruesome 12 miles trek!). I grew up in Las Animas, graduated from High School in Las Animas, many, many years ago. I always feel very safe staying at the Hampton Inn. I have stayed there many times since it opened.
