The hotel hosts were exceptionally nice and called to check on us when we were late. It was no problem parking our car there overnight for a biking excursion. The room was very large and comfortable.

Beautiful views of Mount Katahdin and great access to southern Baxter State Park. Scoodic In and Appalachian Trail Cafe are both great places to eat at. Enjoyed two art galleries in town. Downtown is easy to walk through although sidewalks can be a little hard to walk on as they are not level.

Stayed at Hotel Terrace to visit Baxter State Park and do some hiking. It's about a 35min drive from Abol and Katahdin Stream hikes, mainly because the speed limit in the park is only 20mph. Town is small, but has everything you need. I'd recommend it for those looking to do outdoor activities near or in Baxter State Park who don't want to camp.

Very interesting town. There must be quite a history here.

Very interesting town. There must be quite a history here. No one is telling the history that we could find. There is the old town and the tourist centered town. They seemed like they were from different worlds.

The location is great for people who want to explore Baxter State Park and the Katahdin region but aren't into camping. Opportunities for outdoor recreation about around the area, from Baxter and Katahdin Woods & Waters to some lesser-known spots such as the Penobscot River Trails on Grindstone Road and the MTB trails around Millinocket Lake. It's a former paper mill town in decline from its glory days so it's not the most picturesque town in Maine but there are restaurants, grocery stores and places to shop. I hope that after the pandemic subsides, Millinocket might reinvent itself as a hub for outdoor enthusiasts along the lines of Moab.

Millenocket ME is for the outdoor lovers. Mt. Katahdin is the highest point in Maine and the end of the Appalachian trail. Amazing hike, BEAUTIFUL views and if you take the HUNT TRAIL, amazing conversations with thru hikers. Outskirts there is not much but there is all that the outdoors has to offer for sure. Remote camping, kayaking, etc. One of my absolute favorite places to visit.

From outside the hotel is not a good looker. However, the room we had (#11) was well appointed, looking out on a green and very quiet space. The beds were comfortable and the room had a coffee machine, some (plastic) cutlery and other utensils, and a microwave. It is centrally located in Millinocket. Worth a one night stay.

I loved the retro vibe! So much more fun than sterile 'corporate decor' from chain hotels.
