Richmond, Indiana, is a small city in farm country on the Ohio border. It is a nice place with friendly people. I went there to see the 2024 total eclipse of the sun but learned along the way that there are at least four places of interest in town and nearby that seemed worth visiting. Because of bad weather after the eclipse, I visited only the first of the four, the arboretum, for which there was no charge to enter. 1. The arboretum (in town, about two miles from the motel) 2. The Model T car museum (in town) 3. A site where Ordovician fossils are said to be common and can be collected (nearby) 4. This was a hidden gem! I wish all the Comfort Inns were like this. The hotel smelled clean, looked stylish and was a great value for what you got.
