Wasn't fully prepared for the cold. Thankfully the pubs and restaurants had fabulous wood burning fires. People of Clarens, shop and restaurant owners,are so warm and friendly. A variety of activities from shopping to hiking or just enjoying a cold one in the pub. The overall atmosphere was great and laid-back—perfect for a holiday. However, the Koporasie Restaurant was a major disappointment. The staff lacked attention to detail and showed poor customer service. Most concerning was the hygiene standard, which urgently needs improvement. In this day and age, there’s no excuse for cockroach sightings, especially with the many effective pest control measures available. Clarens has always been a great place to visit, winter or summer. The town was known for its unique art pieces. As time has evolved, so many shops have opened and closed over time. The town, in my opinion, has become more boutique in its approach than art related. The restaurants carry a fairly hefty price even though simple meals were had. ( The town needs to survive in both high and low seasons) There are many self catering, B&B's and hotels available to stay in, the choices are endless, but beware it gets very busy in peak seasons. The festivals and happenings surrounding the main square are great. As a weekend away it cannot be beaten.Guest review byBernardSouth Africa
