It is a bit of a drive from Hakone (about 25 minutes) so at first I was nervous that we were too far removed from town, but once we arrived, it was clear we had made the right choice. The house was brand new, every detail was considered, and the private onsen/sauna were amazing to have onsite. The scenery and the fresh mountain air were perfect after several days of walking all over Tokyo. There were instructions for everything in the house so we didn’t need to contact the hosts at all and just enjoyed ourselves. There is a bus stop 2 min walking from the house so we either called a taxi or used the bus to come/go. The town of Gora was much closer so we sometimes we just went there to hit up the konbini or grab a sushi dinner.
