The landlocked Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) promises an unforgettable adventure. Its lush, tropical rainforest is second only to the Amazon in size, while Kinshasa, the French-speaking capital, offers an enticing mix of relaxed and lively pastimes. Follow the trails around the large, forested enclosures to see the friendly apes playing together. The Zongo Waterfalls make for another popular day trip out of the capital. There’s a fair bit of hiking involved, but seeing the water thundering over the precipice into the river below is a sight worth hiking for.
