Absolutely fantastic stay in Takayama. Quaint, charming ryokan a short walk (700m) from the historical city center for great value for money. Friendly staff, private bathroom and toilet, sparkling clean.

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. Location was perfect, rooms had a lot of charm, great breakfast and the onsen was fabulous. Would stay here again in the future
