Housed in an 18th-century palace, this hotel blends a historical setting with picturesque views of the Lousã Mountains. The hotel is amazing with an excellent breakfast and cocktails. Bed and pillows so comfortable you could sleep all day. What is even more amazing about this place is the staff. Always smiling, helpful and easy going in the best way. They were so helpful in helping us get our delayed luggage and also in ordering a cab early in the morning and facilitating an early breakfast so we could catch our plane. If you are ever in Lousa, you should definitely book this hotel and stay there.

Hotel Meliá Castelo Branco is located on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of Castelo Branco. It features a health club with an indoor pool, sauna and Turkish bath. We booked it because it was the only hotel with a swimming pool in the city, even f it was interior. In the heat of summer, that was needed. We were surprised to discover the exterior swimming pool had opened the week before. And what a swimming pool! An absolutely stunning view, a beautifully conceived pool and exterior area.
