Hi, we are from Azerbaijan 🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿. We booked this hotel via booking for 4 people. Arrived on the 6th of August and stayed until the 11th of August. Everything was on a highest level, especially service, personnel, attitude. All the personnel is so kind and friendly, everyone is trying to help and even if they don't know the language, they use translator in order to support us. Dear Mr Johnson helped us with every single thing, was answering all the questions. We were not able to make a payment of the hotel due to card blockage (foreign card) and he did not hurry us, told us to relax enjoy our trip and pay it whenever we fix the problem with the bank. Fortunately, we fixed on the second day of the stay. Whenever we called and asked something, he organized it very fast. Additionally, he was answering our questions through WeChat as well and he is the only English speaker at the hotel, which makes the communication much easier. 👍🏽 Unfortunately, don't know the tall guy's name on the front desk. He was extra supportive as well. Hope you understand who is he. 🙏🏽 All personnel in the whole hotel, all people at the front desk were friendly, gave us drinks, chargers etc. Additionally, want to mention Olivia. She was in touch with us right from the moment when we made our booking, she reached us. Despite the fact, that we could only arrange one-way pick up or dropoff, Olivia arranged both for us, as our dropoff railway station was a bit far. Extra thanks to her for this 🌸 Perfect hotel, definitely must be your choice in your visit (additionally, we had breakfast and supper), super clean and modern hotel, friendly, very supportive and kind personnel. 💕 🇦🇿🇨🇳 Tövsiyə edirik 💯

The location is great, just need a bit time to find the place for the first time. There are few shopping mall nearby within walking distance 5 minutes. The building out looking is a bit old, but the inside is great and Morden. It is actually a local residential building, therefore do not expect for a reception.

FAQs about hotels in Shanghai

A Beacon of Modern China

A beacon of 21st-century China, Shanghai is modernising at an electrifying rate. Nowhere is this more evident than the skyscraper-punctuated Pudong commercial district. The most distinct - the Oriental Pearl Tower - has a ball at the top and bottom and offers fabulous city views. A number of towers also twist as they go up – a feat of contemporary engineering.

This side of the city also houses Shanghai Pudong International Airport, while Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is over the Huangpu River in the Puxi district. An area of older and less dominating buildings, Puxi features the elegant Bund area whose varied architecture includes a surprising array of Art Deco.

With a choice of shopping centres and small shops beneath brightly lit neon signs just like Chinatowns across the world, Shanghai shopping is fantastic.

Other must-see Shanghai attractions include the wonderful Shanghai Museum and the Jade Buddha Temple. For a break from the hustle and bustle head to the Yuyuan Gardens, the beach or peaceful Zhujiajiao Water Town in the west.

Whether you choose one of the Shanghai hotels, apartments or hostels, take time to go to a tea house, a Chinese institution. Also worth sampling are Shanghai hairy crab, steamed dumplings and the freshwater fish so popular with locals.

It was only a quick 3 day look, not nearly long enough, but something very different. We went when it was Chinese school holidays,i had no idea, millions of people everywhere, traffic a night mare, they has police everywhere to control the traffic and the public, and so hot 36c on one day and 35c on other when we left it was 37c.Most of the swimming pools are inside hotels not outside, which i did find a bit strange considering how hot it gets there.Taxis took us to the wrong locations a few times, not many speak English there. We did not travel great distances there because of the time schedule we had, hence really needed more time, there was so much i wanted to see.You need to have cash on you for the taxis and of course some will rip you of.In conclusion i would say it was quite good, but not the best holiday Ive had,we do lean more to beach type holidays, one thing i would say take plenty of money with you,its quite pricey

I caught 10 taxis whilst in Shanghai.

I caught 10 taxis whilst in Shanghai. The first one coming from Longyang Rd station to the hotel overcharged me by 280yuan because I didn't know where I was going and was taken on a very long unneccessary drive. He charged me 330 yuan. I now know I should have paid between 30 -50 yuan depending on traffic. The same thing happened in 3 other (metered) taxis but i caught them out and refused to pay. I caught retailers trying to put more charge in their credit card devices than I was supposed to be paying. I caught them and refused to pay. I got short changed when paying cash. All of this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and leaves me with a feeling that Shanghai people are dishonest. I also noticed a lack of signage that had another language as well as chinese on them. If you want tourists to come back, you should cater for them and not just view them as people to take money from. I have been to Beijing 3 times and had a great time every visit. I've been to Hong Kong about 16 times and had great times. I don't want to return to Shanghai and will not recommend it to others

Beautiful, clean, modern, innovative with insane views - a city that stretches far beyond what we’re used to in New York or Los Angeles in the US. The people were friendly and the food was incredible. An endless amount of luxury shopping and malls. The only downside was the humidity and the heat in August.

Not sure what I expected from Shanghai - it is large and sprawling and has something for everyone. Stylish cafes, restaurants, lanes and curiosity shops. Large shopping avenues and the Bund was crazily busy for sunset. The Tanzifeng lanes area was great for small shops and cocktails. The Temples were intact and well worth visiting. The ultra modern shopping malls with pure luxury...the didi taxi service. We discovered some beautiful gardens in the city, great for a rest during the midday heat!

The staff are really friendly and helpful. This is our second stay at the Shanghai Joyful Star Hotel. We fly through Shanghai and have long layovers between flights. The free shuttle bus is a bonus for us because we don't want to have to organise getting to and from the airport. The rooms have been refurbished since our last stay, and they are so clean, spacious, and comfortable. There are plenty of shops and restaurants just around the corner, and the area is quiet. We will definitely stay here again and again.

The Grand Hyatt Shanghai was a wonderful stay, possibly the best stay I’ve had. They leave no stone unturned when it comes to amenities in the room and part of the hotel. Staff speak great and clear English, super friendly and always ready to help. Location wise, also phenomenal with a great view to the bund each morning. One of the highlights of my entire trip was staying here. Would highly recommend and would be coming back myself if I’m ever in Shanghai again.

The Eton Hotel is great value for money. Located in Pudong, a 20-30 minute walk from the Shanghai Pearl Oriental tower, and a ten minute walk from a pier to the green bund. The room had a spectacular view, with a fabulous bathtub and decent in-roon amenities. Concierge was lovely and helped out with practicalities. Cleaning was comprehensive and daily.
