Visited Punta del Diablo at the beginning of December, still not high season, not warm enough, and quite empty. One night and one day were enough to visit the village and walk around the beaches! Beware of having cash with you, many lodgings and commerces don't accept credit cards as a payment method. It is a wonderful place to retreat to, rest and at the same time be connected. There are two good local supermarkets, restaurants, a bus link to Cabo Polonio for a day visit and a direct bus from Montevideo or Rocha. Hosts Juan and Yolanda are attentive and on hand to help if you need them. It was the perfect place to spend just over a week resting and relaxing in the middle of a 2 month work research trip to Latin America. Highly recommended.Guest review byNaomiNetherlands

Everything we needed was there and we felt right at home, not really wanting to leave as falling asleep and waking up the sound of the sea was very special. It was especially helpful to have sheets provided as other places in town didn’t always offer that and as we’re backpacking, we don’t carry bedding with us. Also, he makes a super nice breakfast. The only downside is that it is decently far (+-20 min walking) from the "town" where you can get food. But there is a great parrilla nearby, LAPARRILLA Punta del Diablo, which accepts card. Beautiful beaches, shops, restaurants nearby. Most beautiful beach on walking distance: Playa Grande, located in Parque Santa Teresa. Also the Fortaleza de Santa Teresa is certainly worth visiting.
