Set in park-like grounds on the shores of Lake Te Anau, 5 minutes' walk from the town centre, Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers has both mountain and lake views from the majority of the rooms. We were a group of 3 using a quad room before a hike. This was perfect for us. There were plugs to charge devices by each bed. There was a good kitchen. Nice atmosphere - everyone I think we met was going for a hike.

Set in Manapouri, 21 km from Te Anau Glow Worm Caves, Possum Lodge offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and barbecue facilities. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a tour desk, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Certain units at the property feature a balcony with a lake view. Very nice accommodation quite close to the departure point for doubtful sound cruise. The rooms were clean and facilities were good. The WiFi worked very well also.

Whatca great stay, lovely facilities with a really good, strong shower (better than most hotels I've stayed in). We had a cabin and it had everything you needed. Fluffy, soft towels, even the TV had Netflix etc. Highly recommend.
