A well-run hostel in a former elementary school. Dorm style rooms, shared bathrooms, all very clean. In walking distance from Magome village center and start of Nakasendo trail. Friendly and helpful staff shares recommendations for breakfast and dinner places. If you come to hike the trail, there is no need for a five- star hotel facility. I would return to this place any time and will definitely recommend it to friends...

At first I was surprised by the good ratings, but it was indeed well deserved! The staff was very friendly and the guesthouse is very spacious, with a great view to the mountain and the sea. We were very well received and everything was clean and tidy! Top experience

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Guest House Ouka is about 11mins walk from Takayama station, the route was pretty straight forward - just a straight line! The Guest House itself is cosy and well decorated. On 1/F you will find the reception counter and a home-like common area, the kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, cookware and long dining tables, Shower rooms are just next to the kitchen. My single room was on the 2/F which was clean, warm and spacious!! (with comfy bed/ chair/ hair dryer/ mirror/ small laundry rack etc. and a warm welcome note :) Restroom/ washing machine (200yen)/ tumble dryer/ Laundry racks/ washbasins were just few steps away. Staffs were so friendly and helpful, luggage storage was also available before check in and after check out. I had a great time in Ouka and Takayama, will definitely come back next time (and stay for few more days!)

Undoubtedly, this place was one of the best accommodations I have been. The place is spotless. Seiko is a Super Host. She was very helpful to my request. Getting out of the train station you can turn to the left and after crossing the railway it is a two-minutes walk, there is a mini supermarket just in front of the accommodation and a big supermarket 4 minutes up the main road. The Villa is so adorable, if you have time for a little stroll, you will enjoy it. I strongly recommend it.

My family and I liked how spacious, convenient and warm welcoming our host was! The location was few minutes walking distance to local restaurants and family mart. It was also approximately 8 minutes from Kumano Hayatama Taisha and in front of the bus stop heading towards to Nachi. Our host, Sasaki-san, was also kind to give us an introduction to the place along with offering free icecream, beer and sake! Overall we recommend this place!

The room and facilities are clean. The location is very good. It’s near the bus stop and the convenience store. And if you wake up early like me and there’s no bus at that time, you still able walk to the Shingu station. The hostel has 4 bicycles to be borrowed with no charge. You can ride it around the city.

ヒルズハウスセカンド se nachází v destinaci Tokoname a nabízí zahradu, sdílený lounge, terasu a výhled na město. It had a true homely feel - you will be staying with a local couple who are the most wonderful people. They are both deeply passionate about Tokoname artists and will be able to give you a lot of information about them. They delivered an authentic experience of living in a Japanese household. The rooms are cute, clean, and comfortable too!

B&B legare se nachází v destinaci Gifu a nabízí ubytování s terasou nebo balkonem, bezplatným Wi-Fi a TV s plochou obrazovkou, kola zdarma a zahradu. Na místě je k dispozici soukromé parkoviště. I spent three nights at B&B Legare. Eri was an excellent host. Not only friendly and warm, she actually took the trouble of planning an itinerary for me. Every night she brought me to a different onsen and we had dinner out together. For my day trip to Gujo Hachiman she drove me to the bus station and made sure I bought the right ticket and boarded the right bus. The B&B is not close to the city centre so everyday she sent and picked me up from the city centre. If not for Eri I wouldn’t have been able to experience as much as I did in Gifu; she brought me to places I otherwise would find challenging to get to get to and I learnt more about Gifu and Japanese culture from her. Also the room I had at B&B was very comfortable and spacious and I slept so very well on the futon.
