This hostel was recommended on a German travelling website so we decided to give it a try. It was best hostel experience I ever had! Fist of all, the place looks even better than the photos. Very colourful, cozy, and stylish. There is so much space provided, especially if you want to hang out with the other guests at the shared rooms. There are two shared bathrooms. I would especially recommend the open-air one, it was nice to take a shower surrounded by trees after a long and hot day. We got a small room without sink, and it was absolutely enough, if we wanted some space we went to the hammocks. If you want to grab some food or drinks, you can go a few minutes by foot. Everything you need is close. On our first night we were smart enough to follow Ardys’ (he works at the hostel and is the coolest guy we met in Indonesia so far) recommendation to go to an bar nearby. We met very welcoming locals and listened to live music. Ardy was always available if we had questions, problems or funny stories to share. Happy Buddha is absolutely the place to be in Yogyakarta, the service is so great you don’t even get concerned about the few ants in the bathroomfloor:) It’s a hostel with a great personality you feel at home directly! I love the vibes and very friendly staff! The hostel is brand new, clean and comfortable. I met other travelers from Europe and Asian and we had walking tour near Tugu Monument together. Overall im very happy staying at this hostel! Will coming back here if im back to Yogyakarta!

Such a nice hotel, really clean and I especially liked the art in the hallways. The staff always tried to help us in any possible way, although we really had a lot of questions. It is not too close to the water palace and the sultans palace, but there is a nice way (~30 minutes to walk) along the river to get there, just google and it shows the right walking path. Internet connection in the room, as well as in the lobby/breakfast area was really fast and stable.

    We were super satisfied with our stay at this accommodation—maybe it’s the best hostel I’ve ever been to. 🏨💚 The place is lovingly decorated, with beautiful plants everywhere and a great overall layout. 🌿 The rooms are small and simple but very nice. 🛏️ The location is perfect—right next to cozy cafes and restaurants, and you can walk everywhere. ☕🍽️ The staff gives excellent tips and doesn’t push expensive tours on you. 🗺️ They also rent out high-quality scooters. 🛵 We felt super comfortable here. Thank you so much for everything! 🙏😊

    The rooms were basic but okay. Beds were quite comfortabel and the shower was warm. The staff were really nice and were staying up late to drink some beers and play some music. The backpackers feeling was really nice and it was the perfect place to meet new people in Yogyakarta. The pool was also a nice addition.

    Great location, comfortable bed but most of all the staff are genuinely such lovely people! The owner is so helpful and kind and the lady at reception is so friendly and welcoming. The hostel really gives off a homely vibe and as a solo female traveller I felt incredibly safe. Will definitely stay again if I return to Yogyakarta!
