Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. Rise to greet the sun creeping over majestic mountains and breathtaking expansive views of open farmland. Nestled away in the quite cul-de-sec on a hill minutes from the towncentre of Atherton, this 3 bedroom home provides tranquil and serene views of the surrounding tablelands. Make this your base to visit surrounding towns of Malanda, Mareeba, Ravenshoe, Yuangaburra and Herberton to explore lakes, rivers, waterfalls and historic sites.
We moved to the Atherton Tablelands about 7 years ago and have loved living in this lush tropical setting raising our four kids in this small yet vibrant town. As professional who have full time jobs, to relax and unwind, we enjoy walks and hikes on the many trail around and of course swimming in the lakes and rivers. Jonathan enjoys playing Futsal at the local club as well as coaching some kids teams. Between, work, church and family life is busy but still enjoyable with the pace that living in a country town offers.
Atherton, at the heart of the Atherton Tablelands, is a substantial and attractive service town. Today, apart from the very unusual Crystal Cave and the Art Deco Barron Valley Hotel, most of the attractions are at the edges or beyond the town. The unusual Tolga Bat Hospital, the Hou Wang Temple and the many parks, lakes and unusual volcanic formations which are such an integral part of the Atherton Tablelands experience and beyond the town's centre and the intense rich, red volcanic soils of the area, which have been estimated to be over 30 metres deep, have been used to produce tobacco, maize, potatoes, peanuts, macadamia nuts and avocados.
Atherton is located 1713 km north of Brisbane and 81 km south-west of Cairns. The major town on the Atherton tablelands it is 753 m above sea-level.
