It was amazing! Such a beautiful peaceful location. The mineral pool and sauna were great and it was a really nice eco friendly place. The beach nearby was so peaceful and we had beautiful walks with our dog. One of our favourite places we have...

Wagait Beach Sanctuary is an eco retreat set amongst one acre of tropical natural bushland. A natural habitat for wallabies, kookaburras, colourful tropical parrots and bordered by a seasonal natural waterway the property is set up as an eco lodge, inspired by the surroundings. The property is fully furnished with a luxurious design that complements the indoor/outdoor feel. An expansive deck overlooks natural forest and curated tropical fruits that can be picked throughout the year, with a 1.8 metre deep mineral pool for guests to float in and watch the stars. There is a full kitchen for cooking, a BBQ, stove top and oven, organic coffee and home grown eggs are supplied when the girls are laying. A comfortable lounge and dining area provides guests with the perfect blend of home comfort and luxurious living with comfortable leather lounge suites, a flat screen TV including Netflix, louvered windows throughout to let the breeze in and a fully air conditioned house for those hot summer nights. The bedrooms both provide comfort and practicality with soft coverings and plenty of space and the outdoor shower is a highlight, surrounded by banana trees and tropical plants plus an ice bath for those interested in vibrant health. The Sanctuary has a 2 person infrared sauna all included in your stay to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Our commitment to the environment is unwavering and our toilet is a full compost affair, all our water is collected from the sky and stored in rain water tanks and the house is powered by the sun which reminds guests of the fragile environment we live in. The Sanctuary has been listed as a luxury holiday home and day retreat location and is used by families, couples and companies who want to get away from the busyness of life and truly connect with nature. Enveloped in bushland and a stones throw from remote beaches, The Sanctuary is a place that peoplre return to many times for solitude and grace.
As a family we have travelled the globe many times and Wagait Beach stole our heart and here we settled more than a decade ago. We love sharing the raw beauty of Wagait Beach with people and we are strong advocated for self care and healthy lifestyle which is why we have installed a magnesium mineral pool, ice bath and infrared sauna into the property. The Sanctuary at Wagait Beach is a place for you to heal, to regenerate and connect with nature because we believe that it is this deep connection with the land that will bring us back to where we belong. We still travel a lot and we love adventure, surfing, snow boarding, scuba diving, fishing and dirt biking. Anything that fuels our hunger for adventure and keeps us close to nature is our thing and Wagait Beach allows us to get as close to nature as we dare while being a World away from the busyness that steals peoples lives.
Wagait Beach is a small seaside town on the Cox Peninsular, a 1.5 hour drive from Darwin city. The whole town is an environmentally conscious place and many properties run on rainwater and solar. People come here to get away from the every day, connect with nature and enjoy the raw beauty of Northern Territory. We have limited services which include a petrol station, general store and post office and a community run club that offers family friendly meals and events Thursday - Sunday. The Cox Country Club is a favourite for Darwin locals who often get the ferry across to watch live music which often plays on Sundays. Wagait Beach can be reached by car (1.5hrs) or by ferry from Cullen Bay (15 minutes). Guests who arrive by ferry will be picked up and dropped off by guest relations. Please let us know in advance if you choose the ferry. We do recommend that guests shop for food and alcohol in Darwin City or Coolalinga before making their way to Wagait Beach since our general store can be limited with selection and is quite pricey.
