A true bush experience close to the convenience of Maun and the breathtaking beauty of the Okavango Delta. After a 25-minute drive from Maun, the legendary safari city of Botswana, you will arrive at Tshima Bush Camp, set in 30 hectares of natural bush all around, with direct access to the Nhabe River. Our Meru-style tents are luxurious and have a private bathroom with toilet and hot shower. A private area around each tent allows you to enjoy nature and relax. The tents are positioned away from each other for total privacy. The morning choir of Frankoline and guinea fowl is your natural wake-up call! Tshima Bush Camp is completely self-sustaining and ecologically responsible. We use only solar energy and we recover and clean our own water. In addition, our waste management and sewage systems contribute to our green profile. Solar geysers are used for hot water supply and also contribute to reducing our environmental impact.
In search of a new challenge and a place to stay, we (Verena from Belgium and Russell from Namibia) found our common home in Maun. At the age of 38, I decided to leave Belgium and explore Africa in my own way. On 6th of July 2017 I landed in Johannesburg and went on the search for a suitable vehicle for my break from life. My dream of owning a lodge became stronger and stronger as I travelled. At the first try in Namibia I got to know and love Russell. His experience in lodge design brought us together. We went to assess what has to be redone at the lodge that I was interested in. (way to much). The project was shelved and we started off as a couple! One year has passed since my start and we have found our dream, Tshima Bush Camp. 12 days before my 40th birthday, we welcomed our first guests. We look forward to our future and hope that our future guests will feel at home here, as we did when we chose this piece of paradise in the middle of bush with a fantastic wildlife.
Tshima Bush Camp is located on Maun Ghanzi Road and is easily accessible without the need of a 4x4 vehicle. Maun is just a short 25-minute drive from the camp. A pick-up service to and from the international airport is also available. In Maun you will find restaurants, banks with ATMs, post offices, internet cafés and supermarkets. It is an ideal place to make various arrangements for your trip to Botswana. The camp is an ideal base for exploring nearby natural resources such as the world famous Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pan National Park. Tshima Bush Camp is an excellent stopover on the way from Namibia to the Delta. Also for the end of a Botswana trip and the way back to Namibia, the camp is ideal.
