Chims Motel & Cabins opened in July 2018 with a single guest house and has since grown to six detached cabin-style accommodations — all thoughtfully expanded to meet the evolving needs of today’s travelers. Each unit includes a full-size kitchen and is designed for comfort, privacy, and practical convenience. General Manager and host Naomi Nicholson designed each cabin with guest experience in mind, adding thoughtful touches like night lights and smart layouts. Naomi and her husband, Ed Nicholson, built the property themselves and have been recognized with multiple awards — including 2nd Place at the 2022 Vancouver Island Real Estate Building Awards, a 2023 BE Award in the Hospitality Division, and the 2024 Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Investment Award. Guests are warmly welcomed by the Nicholsons; Ed or Naomi — making each stay feel a little more like home. Their two dogs, Reina the Rottie and Chims the Black Lab would love to say hi however they are kept away from guests.

Chims Motel & Cabins offers six (6) self-contained studio and one-bedroom cabins just 5–7 minutes from downtown Port Alberni along Highway 4 — the final accommodations stop before reaching Tofino. Ideal for travelers heading west, staying for work, or couples seeking quiet comfort, our detached cabins provide privacy, space, and the comforts of home. Each unit includes one queen bed and a pull-out couch, with most featuring full kitchens, private entrances, in-suite laundry (in select units), and mountain views. Our Comfy King Cabin is a standard motel-style room with no kitchen or frills — perfect for short, no-fuss stays. Guests also enjoy free Rogers Business Wi-Fi and dedicated parking. Our sustainability-designed property includes on-site food waste, recycling, and garbage disposal options. Chims Motel & Cabins is located on the quiet west side of Port Alberni, on Highway 4 — the final accommodation stop before heading to Tofino and Ucluelet but 5-10 minutes away from City Centre and Events. Surrounded by forest and with stunning views of Mount Arrowsmith, the property offers a peaceful atmosphere while still being just minutes from the Tseshaht Market and city amenities. Please note: a vehicle is required to reach us, as there is no public transportation in this area. While we’re close to the highway, road noise is minimal — our cabins are well insulated, and some feature triple-pane windows. Each unit also includes a fan for white noise if you're a light sleeper. The property is also home to the Secluded Wellness Centre, launching health retreats that focus on healing, rest, and connection.
