We came to Le Puy en Velay for a Pilgrimage on the Chemin and wanted a last night before the walk with some private comforts. Arriving a bit earlier not a problem, earlier breakfast (because of church service) not a problem. Very pleasant...

As the website outlined it was authentically historical. It was good to see that such a lovely old building had been saved. The hot shower was excellent with great pressure, unexpected in an old building

Company information

ULTREIA! FORWARD! One word sets the tone. Le Puy en Velay is a sanctuary town, with religious buildings all more majestic than each other, built on volcanic headlands. We can only admire the work of men of the past. The history of this city catches us and takes us on its Camino paths. The people here know how to welcome, help to leave and accompany our brave pilgrims on their adventure full of spiritual and joyful surprises.

Property information

The Maison d'Hôtes l'Epicerie Vieille is a true testimony to the past of the 1950s that heritage enthusiasts will appreciate. 3 generations of admirable women lacemakers and grocers have followed one another in this house which belonged to their daughter and granddaughter Martine, whose story we will tell you with joy. We wanted to keep it authentic and have kept the old paintings of the 19th century, the old floors, the old doors, the old sinks and all those details that we fell in love with. We have made a difficult choice of heritage conservation in its originality and assume it entirely. But rest assured, all modern comfort has been carefully integrated into our renovation

Neighbourhood information

The house is ideally located in the heart of the old upper town, 2 steps from the cathedral, with windows opening onto a quiet street or a small garden. The historic sector plunges you into the Renaissance period with its shimmering houses, narrow cobbled streets, pilgrim cafes, and is full of bistros, taverns, restaurants with typical local dishes; for one purpose, treat yourself !!
