This newly restored ancient school building is centred around the old school courtyard, one wall of which is the magnificent 12th century chateau fortress which dominates this mediaeval town. The house is spacious with a 100 yard salon on the first floor, three bedrooms with showers or baths ensuite on the second floor and a kitchen dining room on the ground floor. Just off the dining area is the fourth bedroom with its bathroom. Our internet site anciencollege has a layout plan of all the rooms. On the other side of the courtyard, approached by a stone spiral staircase within the round tower is a further suite of a bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom and above the bedroom is a further mezzanine with a double bed and a cot. There is also, if needed, an additional pull out drawer bed under the bunks.
The village of Herisson is dominated by the ruins of the mediaeval bourbon castle. There are many walks in the area as well as beautiful scenery. The lively towns of Montlucon, Moulins and Vichy are all within an hour. The area is renowned for its Bourbon history.
