Glyn Shepherds Hut is the perfect base for exploring everything that Snowdonia and the North Wales coast have to offer. Located between Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed in North Wales, it has probably the best views in the area of stunning Model Siabod. It also combines the romance and cosiness of a traditional hut, with the modern conveniences of an attached shower room and entrance porch that gives you plenty of space to store muddy boots or clothing and kit, leaving the hut free of clutter.
Hello and welcome to Glyn Shepherds Hut! I'm an artist and my husband John is a photographer, and we love the outdoors which is a source of great inspiration. We've lived in various parts of the UK and traveled extensively around the world. In March 2019, we moved to North Wales as part of a lifestyle change. With Glyn Shepherds Hut, we wanted to create an experience that we would enjoy ourselves. That's why we've added some personal touches to make your visit a memorable one. We hope you choose to stay us, and if you have any questions at all please let us know. We want to make sure your stay is comfortable, memorable, and fun. We always respect your privacy, but if you need any help or advice on what to do, or how to get around just let us know and ww will be happy to help.
You can eat and drink in Capel Curig at the National Mountain Sports Centre at Plas-y-Brenin, Tyn-y-Coed Inn and Bryn Tyrch Inn, The Ugly House and The Moel Siabod Cafe. Betws-y-Coed is a bustling village 3 miles away with more pubs, restaurants and shops. It is regarded as the Gateway to Snowdonia and it lies within the Gwydyr Forest, which covers more than 20 square miles (72 square kilometres). Here there are wonderful landscapes, forest walks and lakes to explore. There’s also the Conwy Valley Railway Museum, Tree Top Adventure high ropes course and the nine-hole Betws-y-Coed Golf Club, where non-members are welcome. Moel Siabod is easy to reach by foot from Glyn Shepherd’s Hut. And it’s widely regarded as amongst the best and least busy of Snowdonia’s mountains. The National Mountain Sports Centre (Plas-y-Brenin, ) is a few miles away and offers many courses on climbing, hiking, paddling and biking. Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is a short and beautiful drive away from Glyn Shepherds Hut. Llanberis, home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and Beddgelert with its pretty tea rooms and Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon and Porthmadog are also close by.
