North Lodge has undergone major renovations including a new heating system, luxury kitchen, dining area and wetroom with stunning views to the River Eachaig, and further to the Holy Loch. Now open plan, there is a lovely space for socialising. The wonderful views from the suntrap covered terrace are the highlight of this property. From here you can watch Herons, geese, ducks, otters, kingfishers, ospreys and even seals at high tide! Red squirrels feed from the nut feeders front and
I am an Archaeologist who grew up in the Kilmun/Benmore/Rashfield area and still have family and friends in the area. I use the Lodge myself whenever I can and love the area especially in Spring and Autumn when we can have lovely crisp, cool and sunny days perfect for walking. I love to listen to music, sit on the terrace at Kilmun, walk and cycle in the area and enjoy the passing of the seasons.
Someone will be around during your stay although they will not always be able to attend for much of the day as unfortunately, work gets in the way!
The Cowal area is one of the hidden gems of Argyll and Scotland. Although Argylls secret coast is fast becoming not so secret anymore! There are many fantastic walks close to the Lodge as well as some seriously good mountain biking from gentle rides to extremely challenging! Ask the owner for advice on trails and marked courses in the area. There is a convenient place to launch kayaks from right across the road from the lodge into the tidal river and sea although this is steep and users must take care as this is not the responsibility of North Lodge Self Catering. This is a very special area and please ask for advice on walks, bike trails and kayaking opportunities.
There is plenty of parking close to the Lodge and there are hourly buses into Dunoon that run until almost midnight for seven days although there are no late buses on Sundays.
